What is Olive Leaf Extract?
The olive leaf extract is the dried leaf extract of olive genus, olive family. The main components include flavonoids, terpenoids and their derivatives, aromatic compounds, aliphatic compounds, phenolic acid compounds, etc. Flavonoids, terpenoids and their derivatives are the main active components.
Olive leaf extract has many pharmacological effects, such as lowering blood pressure, lowering blood glucose, antioxidant, antithrombotic, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-microbial and anticancer, etc., and is widely used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and food supplements.
What is the function of Olive Leaf Extract?
1. Antioxidant effect
Oleuropein in olive leaf extract is an important antioxidant active component in olive leaf, which has a certain protective effect on oxidative myocardial injury caused by ischemia and reperfusion. Oleuropein has a significant inhibitory effect on light emission, and is stronger than the commonly used antioxidant Trolox.
2. Bacteriostasis
Olivin and tyrosol isolated from olive leaves have extensive antibacterial activities. Studies have shown that olivin and tyrosol have inhibitory effects on 5 ATCC standard strains and 44 clinically isolated strains.
3. Hypoglycemic effect
Olive leaf extract has significant effect on lowering blood glucose and anti-hypertension, improving the sensitivity of the body to insullin and eliminating the resistance of tissue cells to insullin. In addition, the study found that olive leaf extract can inhibit the nerve damage caused by hyperglycemia, relieve the heat pain allergy caused by diabetes, and can be used to treat the neuralgia caused by diabetes.
4. Effects on cardiovascular system
oleuropein in olive leaf extract has an obvious protective effect on the heart, mainly manifested as anti-acute adriamycin cardiotoxicity and anti-ischemia. The effect of olive leaf extract on blood vessels is mainly manifested in the inhibition of platelet aggregation.
5. Antitumor effect
Oleuropein is an anticancer compound with strong efficacy, which can directly destroy actin microfilaments and inhibit the proliferation and migration of tumor cell lines in a dose-responsive manner in both cellular and non-cellular detection. It irreversibly surrounds cancer cells and prevents them from replicating, moving and invading.
6. Antiviral effect
The total olive flavone, oleuropein and other chemical components of olive leaf extract have good antiviral effects. The extract of olive leaf also has the functions of DNA protection, neuroprotection, immune enhancement and endocrine regulation.
7. Protection and antioxidant effects - maintain the viability of skin cells
The high content of oleuropein is mainly used in skin care products, which can protect skin cells from UV damage, effectively maintain skin tenderness and elasticity, and achieve the effect of helping skin and rejuvenating skin.
8. Repair effect - promote collagen metabolism and synthesis

9. Antiglycan reaction - keeps collagen elastic

Unlike physostigmine and tacrine, Huperzine A does not appear to bind to receptors in the central nervous system, which can cause adverse side effects.
